Amazon Ships 5 Billion Items through Prime in 2017

Amazon logoAmazon won’t release the number of customers who pay for a Prime subscription, but today it revealed that in 2017, it shipped over 5 billion items through the free 2-day shipping program. It also said that more new paid members joined Prime worldwide than any previous year. In 2017, the Amazon fulfillment and shipping network increased by more than 30% in square footage worldwide; here’s a look at other Prime trends it revealed today.

Amazon today announced its Best of Prime 2017 – revealing some of the Prime member favorites of the year. Built on a foundation of fast, free delivery, more than five billion items worldwide shipped with Prime in 2017, including free same-day, one-day, and two-day shipping. Prime is designed to make members’ lives easier and more fun with a unique combination of shipping, shopping and entertainment. Prime members used their digital benefits in 2017 more than in any previous year – putting The Grand Tour on Prime Video, “Believer” by Imagine Dragons on Prime Music and The Handmaid’s Tale on Prime Reading on the U.S. ‘best of’ list for 2017. Fire TV Stick and Echo Dot top the Best of Prime 2017 as the best-selling products purchased by U.S. Prime members from any manufacturer in any category across all of Amazon. Prime members in the U.S. embraced smart home shopping in 2017, with Prime members adding millions of new Amazon devices to their homes, including Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote, Echo Dot and Amazon Echo. These devices allow Prime members to get even more from their membership by accessing music, video, photos, voice shopping and more.

  1. With the amount of amazon packages that arrived at our house I think we bought most of them ourselves. And we only have one prime account that 8 members use.
