Pinterest Launches Tools to Help Sellers Reach Shoppers

Pinterest is launching new tools to help brands and retailers reach shoppers – and of course, the new tools help Pinterest generate additional ad revenue. “Businesses can seamlessly turn their product feed into inspiring, actionable Pinterest ads,” it announced in Monday’s announcement.

Highlights include the following:

  • Shop the Look ads are now available in a collections format for mobile lets retailers feature multiple products in a single ad (and click to checkout on the retailer’s site.)
  • More dynamic Business Profiles with a dedicated Shop tab enable people to shop items directly from the profile and drive traffic to retailer’s sites.
  • Catalogues go global (starting in France, Germany, Spain and Italy). Businesses can upload their full catalogue to Pinterest and automatically turn their products into shoppable Product Pins.

Press release follows:

Pinterest has always been the home for shopping inspiration. It’s a place where people search, browse, shop and discover new and favourite brands. Over the past few years, we’ve been introducing new visual discovery tools and making more Pins shoppable. As we continue to unveil more ways to shop with Pinterest, we’re announcing new features for businesses to reach people who want to go from dreaming to decision making, from inspiration to purchase.

Coming soon: Shop the Look ads
Today we’re announcing Shop the Look ads in a new collections format for mobile. It’s the easiest way for retailers to feature multiple products in a single ad so Pinners can discover great products in the context of a Pin’s image and click to checkout on the retailer’s site. Inspired by our organic Shop the Look Pins, advertisers can tag up to 25 items in an image. With the new format, shoppers will see a preview showcase of four items and can click through to see more, giving them a fresh, new way to interact with a brand’s products.

Shop the Look ads will be rolling out in the U.S. over the coming months. Shop the Look as an organic shopping feature is currently available to select partners in international markets including the UK, Brazil, Germany, France and Japan.

New Business Profiles: now with video and Shop tab
We’re also introducing a new, more dynamic Business Profile that brings business’ Pins and products front and center. A dedicated Shop tab enables people to shop items directly from the profile and drive traffic to retailer’s sites. With this redesign, businesses can also customise their profile cover with video or images to more effectively highlight their brand story and engage Pinners. The streamlined navigation also includes an updated messaging feature for quick customer support and feedback.

Catalogues and Shopping Ads go global
With Catalogues, businesses can upload their full catalogue to Pinterest and automatically turn their products into shoppable Product Pins. We’re now extending the feature to select partners starting in France, Germany, Spain and Italy. We’re also bringing Shopping Ads to these countries so retailers can automatically create Pinterest ads from an existing product catalogue at scale. Businesses can seamlessly turn their product feed into inspiring, actionable Pinterest ads.

As people around the world use Pinterest for shopping inspiration, we’ll continue making updates to help Pinners discover the right Pin to shop at the right time, while giving businesses the tools to reach people while they’re in a planning mindset.
