UPS is offering a discount to small businesses in a new promotion through the end of the year. Sellers can use a promo code to get 20% off Domestic Ground service and 40% off Domestic and International Air, as well as Standard service to Mexico and Canada.

“We’ve simplified our online shipping experience to make it quicker and easier. You’ll find all of the information you need – and nothing you don’t – to get your product out the door,” UPS stated. It offers shippers a one-step process that provides service options, including cost and delivery date.

UPS’s Chief Marketing Officer Kevin Warren said, “These savings, together with our highly reliable network, which is performing at levels consistent with our non-peak, on-time performance, is a winning combination. The promotion is simple and easy to use, and has been well received by small and medium-sized businesses.”

UPS is also running a promotion that rewards shoppers for using package pickup service at UPS Access Points, which we wrote about last week.

UPS said it “has achieved superior on-time delivery performance this holiday season through its unprecedented capacity expansion and new technology deployment.”

“UPS is able to deliver record volume in a timely fashion thanks to greater collaboration with customers, improved network resource utilization, new automated capacity and the dedication of UPS employees around the world.”

This page on UPS.com describes the small-business shipping promotion, and be sure to read the Terms and Conditions for details and restrictions (PDF format), including the following:

“Valid on shipments by customers in US 48 or Alaska or Hawaii made on ups.com and tendered by 11:59 pm ET on 12/31/2018. Promotion code must be entered at time of shipment.”

  1. Ummm 20 % discount = prices are now 20% to high. Why don’t they just lower their prices by 20 percent. Just like the grocery stores with their reams of paper at the end of check out. WHY NOT JUST LOWER THE PRICES FOR EVERYONE AND NOT A SELECT FEW.

  2. All the major shipping companies make huge margins on small shippers. The 20% is their token discount. Fedex is a bit cheaper but shipping is a huge cost for small sellers. It would be nice if there was a post that shows how to get better rates. Everyone should have a shipping account because walkin pricing is much higher and you have to have them enter everything.
