Amazon will launch a beauty shop next month in which brands will sell directly to consumers, according to an online publication called Beauty Independent. Amazon’s Justin Boettcher announced Amazon’s Indie Beauty Shop during beauty-industry event BeautyX Retail Summit.
Boettcher, who helps new sellers in the beauty category, said indie beauty was a big focus for the marketplace.
Boettcher indicated sellers must be at least 50% owned by an independent operator to sell in the new shop and must not be available at major retailers such as Target, Walmart or Ulta Beauty.
The publication noted the marketplace already offers luxury beauty brands through its Amazon Luxury Beauty store, including name brands like Elizabeth Arden.
If you’re selling in the beauty category, this is a must-read article, with advice from Boettcher and a dose of speculation.
