With the calendar turned to October, Etsy is prepping buyers and sellers for the busy shopping period ahead. The marketplace published a blog post to let sellers know about its Holiday Gift Guide, which it’s also advertising to shoppers on its home page and elsewhere.
The Holiday Gift Guide presents gift ideas by interest, and it debuted this month featuring the following 16 guides:
The electronically inclined: Phone cases, charging stations, & mouse pads
The coffee chugger: Speciality coffee & personalized mugs
The spirits sipper: Engraved corkscrews, wine stoppers, & coasters
The kitchen dweller: Serving boards, vintage ceramics, & homemade spice blends
The cubicle buddy: Stationary, mouse pads, & tote bags
The eternally best-dressed: Jewelry & apparel
The wanderluster: Travel bags, passport holders, & landscape art
The pet pamperer: Homemade dog treats, custom name plates, & cat beds
The book club MVP: Candles, bookmarks, & bookends
The vintage time traveler: Mid-century home decor & vintage clothing
The green thumb: Planters & garden markers
The creative spirit: Knitting kits, weaving looms, & embroidery DIYs
The beauty guru: Homemade bath and beauty products
The outdoor explorer: Luggage tags, hats, & outdoor games
The designated DJ: Record storage, guitar stands, & speakers
The make believer: Kids costumes & toys
Etsy suggested sellers use those categories “as a guide for framing your goods as gifts,” and said it plans to add more categories throughout the holiday season. “Be sure to follow us on Etsy Success to learn about how you can get involved in our holiday promotions,” linking to its Etsy Success Instagram account (be sure to click on the images to read the accompanying posts).
It might be a good idea to study the listings Etsy picks up in the holiday shopping guides for ideas, including the descriptors used to tag the listings.
Etsy also created a calendar of key shopping dates to help sellers plan promotions for their shops – “Check it out in the Marketing section of your Shop Manager,” it advised. You can read the full blog post in the Etsy Seller Handbook.
