eBay Sellers Grow Concerned over Recent Glitches

eBay sellers who have been experiencing glitches over the past several days are concerned they could be having a negative impact on sales. One major issue that continued into Monday involves what appears to be an intermittent failure to display active listings.

Sellers reported the problem on the Ecommerce EKG board on Friday. When trying to view an active listing, a message sometimes appears that says:

“This listing (**********) has been removed, or this item is not available.
Please check that you’ve entered the correct item number
Listings that have ended 90 or more days ago will not be available for viewing.”

A seller writing about the problem on Monday called it a game of hide and seek with eBay. “If you don’t try again and again and go by the eBay message, then buyers assume the listing does not exist,” and added, “Help Help Help.”

There’s been no post about the problem on the eBay systems announcement boardset up to report technical issues.

In one of numerous threads on the eBay discussion boards about the problem, a user suggested, “check to see if Firefox or Chrome needs updating….that seemed to be the cause for some.” Unfortunately most buyers are unlikely to see the advice.

Other issues have been reported on the Ecommerce EKG board and are described on the AuctionBytes Blog where readers are discussing the issues.
