Bonanza Marketplace Celebrates 8 Years

Online marketplace Bonanza is celebrating its 8-year anniversary with a week of promotions and contests. The homepage will feature discounted items for shoppers, and Bonanza will also feature sellers in a special Seller Spotlight feature on its blog.

The celebration kicks off on June 13th and runs through June 20th. Bonanza spokesperson Grace Bradford said in addition to checking the homepage each day, buyers and sellers should check the Bonanza blog throughout the week for special features, including tips from Bonanza’s biggest sellers and profiles of sellers and employees.

Bonanza will offer membership discounts as well, providing 25% off discounts for signing up or upgrading annual memberships, which are optional.

The celebration spills over onto Bonanza’s Facebook, where it will give away prizes such as Bonanza services, opportunities for exposure (such as having an item featured on Facebook and Twitter), and Tshirts and stickers.

Bonanza launched in 2008 at a time when many eBay sellers were looking for alternative venues on which to sell after the effects of new leadership were starting to be felt. Bonanza grew quickly through grassroots efforts and by September 2009, surpassed 100,000 members. Today, the site has 40,000 sellers and over 1.5 million users, according to Bradford.

And the company announced this spring it had reached a milestone when it exceeded a listing count of 20 million unique items for sale on its marketplace.
