eBay shoppers rely on Saved Searches to keep track of items they’re interested in and to get alerts when an item they’re looking for shows up for sale. So when there are problems with Saved Searches, shoppers become understandably upset.
That’s been the case over the past week, with one frustrated shopper writing on December 30th, “They must be losing millions, because I for one cannot be arsed to go through my saved searches one by one just to view items, and I’m surely not the only one.”
A reader opened up a report on Ecommerce EKG on January 2nd, writing: “For several days now as I attempt to save a “Followed Search” I get an error message “Sorry, we encountered an internal error. Please try again later.” I have not reached the limit number of saved searches, and even deleted some just in case. Still getting the error. Hard to buy things when I can’t save searches for them.”
There are many similar reports across eBay’s various discussion boards, from Technical Issues to Bidding and Buying.
Some are also having problems deleting searches or changing settings. “Anyone else having issues with saved searches? I can’t delete any of my searches. I’ll select “Unfollow Search” and it will disappear only to come back! Very frustrating.”
“Yes,” replied another. “I am having the opposite issue. I can not save a search. It comes up with an internal error and ask that you try again later. I have contacted eBay twice without any resolution”
One reader who emailed EcommerceBytes about the problem said eBay’s Facebook account responded to a request for help with the following response:
“We are aware of some issues we’re having with the Saved Searches function and have alerted our Technical Team about them. Right now we don’t have a time in which we’re expecting it to be fixed, but please keep trying every so often.”
The problem is one of several recent issues that are proving frustrating to eBay shoppers.
