eBay Users Experience Tech Issues over the Weekend

Some eBay users have been experiencing technical issues but have been unable to determine the root cause. Reports came in beginning on Friday and escalating on Saturday from US and UK users and ranged from reports of having problems accessing certain areas of the site, or in some cases, being unable to log in at all.

Down Detector showed a surge in reports at around 1 pm on Saturday, and reports came in to Ecommerce EKG and the eBay boards.

People also tweeted problems – “is there a glitch today? cannot log on from any browser”; “Can no longer access saved searches. Can no longer access custom lists (or wish list). Load times for searches & photos tripled.”

And one person tweeted, “Is the idea of #eBay20 that I have to wait 20 minutes for every button I click?”

Some people speculated their problems with eBay may have been due to their ISPs, with some UK users being told by customer service reps there were problems with Virgin, while in the US, some wondered if there was a problem with Cox.
