eBay appointed an executive from The Home Depot to lead its North American marketplace. Harry “Hal” Lawton was most recently Senior Vice President of Merchandising for the retailer.
Lawton joined The Home Depot in 2005 as a director of strategic development and subsequently served as vice president of finance for the Merchandising organization. He then became president and senior vice president of online, where he oversaw the strategy, sales and operations of The Home Depot’s online channels.
Lawton, who previously worked at consulting firm McKinsey & Co., will become head of eBay North America, a position Christopher Payne held for 4 years before becoming CEO of dating site Tinder last month.
eBay also announced on Monday that former Agilent Technologies executive Marie Oh Huber will become eBay’s General Counsel, and former NYSE executive Scott Cutler will lead StubHub.
And last week, PayPal revealed three executives who will take on top leadership roles after the breakup with eBay: James J. Barrese: Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President, Payment Services; Hill Ferguson: Senior Vice President, Consumer; and William J. Ready: Senior Vice President, Merchant and Next Generation Commerce.
