eBay UK warned sellers that due to higher postal fees, the cost of Managed Returns would rise.
eBay introduced managed returns as an opt-in program in the UK in the fall of 2013, telling sellers it was designed to give buyers a consistent way to initiate returns, no matter which business seller they buy from.
It was also pitched as a tool to make it easier for sellers – “It also gives you a more efficient way to offer and manage returns without time-consuming back-and-forth with your buyers” – and said it would reduce the number of eBay Buyer Protection cases that were opened.
On Monday, eBay UK announced that as part of Royal Mail’s annual price changes, the cost of the Royal Mail Tracked Returns 48 service on eBay Managed Returns would be increasing to 2.99 pounds (incl. VAT), beginning March 30th.
Sellers discussing the announcement on the eBay boards indicated it was to be expected, but several commented they avoid using Managed Returns if they can help it.
