eBay sellers are growing used to unusual free-listing promotions. The latest that kicked off on March 9th allows invited eBay Store owners to list up to 10,000 auctions and pay no listing fee – but only in certain categories. And the kicker? The listings must be priced at 99 cents or less.
Sellers discussing the promotion were disappointed the promotion excluded the BIN option (Buy It Now), and many said they would pass it by. “What cracked me up was the phrasing .99 cent auctions sell better than others (or something to that affect) yes they do but also at much lower prices,” wrote one seller. Another replied, “Exactly what I was thinking! No thanks. That’s setting up a bunch of new sellers to list at .99, only get one bid and then refuse to ship their items.”
But one dealer was excited about the promotion, saying she would use it to continue listing collectible swizzle sticks.
According to the promotion description, eBay Stores sellers who were invited to participate must activate the promotion by selecting “Activate offer” in the invitation email or on the promotion landing page. Items listed prior to a seller activating the promotion will not be eligible for the promotional rate.
Five, 7, and 10-day listing durations are included – 10-day auction-style listings will not be charged either an insertion fee or a listing upgrade fee.
Categories include: Collectibles (1), Toys & Hobbies (220), Dolls & Bears (237), Stamps (260), Jewelry & Watches (281), Art (550), Pottery & Glass (870), Pet Supplies (1281), Baby (2984), Coins & Paper Money (11116), Clothing, Shoes & Accessories (11450), Home & Garden (11700), Crafts (14339), Antiques (20081), Health & Beauty (26395), Entertainment Memorabilia (45100), Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop (64482).
The promotion runs through April 6, 2014. All other fees apply, see eBay website for details and restrictions.
