eBay issued a reminder to sellers on Friday about the need to streamline their returns policies, though it’s not clear why it felt the need to remind sellers 9 months after the policy took effect.
eBay instituted “streamlined” return policies in May, described on this page of the eBay website. Oddly in its post on Friday it failed to point out that certain categories are exempt. (“Categories that will continue have the option to offer 14-day returns include Collectibles & Art, Cameras & Photo and Medical, Mobility & Disability Equipment.”)
You can read more about the change in this EcommerceBytes article from July where we delved into the issue.
In its reminder on Friday, eBay stated:
Back in May 2018, we made updates to the available return policies.
The five new return policies are as follows:
No returns accepted
30-day buyer-paid returns
30-day free returns
60-day buyer-paid returns
60-day free returns
Check and update your listings now to ensure they are up to date with the current policy. Learn more about how you can maximize these options here.
