Online Sellers Impacted by Pacific Area Power Outage

Online Sellers Impacted by Pacific Area Power Outage

California utility company PG&E has turned off power in some locations in Northern California due to a heightened fire risk near its power lines due to “gusty winds and dry conditions.”

That means some sellers are without power – and so are their post offices.

The USPS issued warnings that due to the power outages, the retail operations in some offices have been impacted. “For any affected office, we will not be able to accept credit or debit card payments for postal retail services until the power has been restored.”

eBay posted an announcement for sellers on Wednesday advising them that some carriers might suspend shipping services. It advised sellers who were impacted by outages to communicate with buyers if possible; place their stores in vacation mode; and call eBay Customer Service at (866) 540-3229.

eBay said it would apply certain seller protections for those sellers. You can find the full post on the eBay Announcement Board.
