Amazon launched in Singapore, making it easier for businesses in that country to sell their products on Amazon, including through the FBA program. The marketplace is offering items for sale in categories including Books, Video Games, Consumer Electronics, Baby and Toys, and Home and Kitchen.
According to its press announcement on Wednesday, Amazon.sg offers sellers access to “easy listing tools, payment processing and credit card fraud protection, promotional features to help them get discovered by customers and reports and analytics to improve selling.”
Amazon Singapore (Amazon.sg) also offers Prime membership to customers for S$2.99 a month. Members are eligible for free 2- to 3-day delivery on items in certain categories, and free 1-day delivery on a selection of goods.
The Straits Times explained the significance of the launch of Amazon.sg, including the following:
“Singapore is the first country in South-east Asia to get Amazon, which is available in 15 other countries. Previously, though shoppers here could access Amazon.com, many products were not available for shipping to Singapore and those that were available for international shipping would typically charge high shipping fees.”
