Shopify Turns to Television to Reach Online Sellers

Ecommerce platform Shopify kicked off a new brand campaign today that includes TV commercials. The marketing message to business owners and entrepreneurs is: “Let’s Make You a Business.”

Shopify enables merchants to set up their own ecommerce shop, explaining it helps businesses “design, set up, and manage their stores across multiple sales channels, including mobile, web, social media, marketplaces, brick-and-mortar locations, and pop-up shops.”

Shopify Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Weiser said starting and running a business freed entrepreneurs while at the same time proving to be a daunting process. “Shopify exists to help merchants every step of the way, and our new campaign is meant to inspire future entrepreneurs to start their own journey. This is a major milestone for Shopify as we grow our brand and continue working to make commerce better for everyone.”

Shopify’s “Let’s Make You a Business” campaign spans 12 key markets in the US and Canada and will run through mid-July. The campaign includes TV, digital video, out-of-home, radio, and social advertising.

“The new ad campaign encourages the next wave of independent business owners to turn their big ideas into thriving businesses, and highlights how Shopify provides the trusted tools necessary to start, grow, and manage a business,” the company stated in its announcement.

It’s the company’s first brand campaign, “with more creative activations to come throughout 2019.”
