eBay Runs Anti-Prime Sitewide Flash Sale on Prime Day

eBay runs Anti-Prime Sale

eBay runs Anti-Prime SaleeBay is running a sitewide flash sale today and is taking a jab at Amazon Prime in the process. The eBay offer gives $25 off a minimum purchase of $119 – the cost of an annual Amazon Prime membership.

Last week, eBay used the magic number when it launched deals that included “more than a hundred deals for $119 – all with free shipping, no membership required.” Ad Age called it part of eBay’s strategy to “throw shade” at Amazon.

eBay is holding the sale today during Amazon Prime Day – the coupon code shoppers use to get the discount is PRIMO119. Terms & Conditions are as follows:

“This Coupon is a $25 discount off a minimum purchase of $119, valid from 5:00 AM PT on July 17, 2018 until 11:00 PM PT on July 17, 2018. Discount applies to the purchase price (excluding shipping, handling, and taxes) of eligible items on ebay.com. Eligible items exclude warranties and protection plans, as well as items from the Coins & Paper Money, Gift Cards & Coupons, and Real Estate categories.”

Be sure to read through the description of the sale found on this page for full details and restrictions.

  1. ebay logic: We’re willing to lose $25 to make $12 because it makes us look “good” today.
Wenig and his goons apparently have no concept of “tomorrow”.

Carl Ichan just keeps on smilin’….

  2. I bought something in the sale from Canada today that weighs 30 lbs and that the seller charged me $7 to ship ‘small packet.’ I’m wondering after I file an INR, will I get back what I paid or what eBay paid him?

  3. Just a buyer on both venues, but haven been in advertising my whole life and ebay competing with prime day is pure insanity. Make your own day. Who is running the show there? A high school kid or someone with the mentality of one? No insult meant for high school kids. I meant an immature one. 😉 It also makes eBay look desperate like the loser that tries too hard to get a date and always falls a little short. Old school, so forgive me. It’s how I see ebay with this competition.
