  1. Ina – I’m so confused – I’ve followed your stories about BigCommerce. I’m currently subscribed to a store but it has not gone live yet as I have been struggling with this mysterious CSV file that I guess I need to move my current website (15 year there) over to Big Commerce. According to your article I don’t need this – it’s a simple matter? I plan on shutting down that non-existant store at the end of the month because it’s just sucking up too much of my time posting one item at a time because they don’t actually have an import tool.

    I might be confused here – but that’s what their reps have told me.

    Here’s my dream website – that’s what I thought. First of all independent stand alone website’s are ALOT of work. Pretty sure you can appreciate that. My plan was to migrate to a basic store on Big and just keep working. Since Bonanza has such a brilliant import tool from ebay I automatically assumed that Big would have also figured it out. I curently have well over 500,000 items in stock that I need to move. Ebay is where my money comes from. Anything else is just cream on the top. I want to change that.

    I want to do the work only once. List everything on ebay for 30 days since that is what their morons think is a good plan – once listed have my work moved to Big and just keep listing. Meanwhile back at the ranch (Big) things just keep piling up – move to the next tier and so on. If I’ve made 300,000$ on ebay obviously my product is good – buyers just need to find it. Once I moved all my inventory there I’d make sure I sent out a 15% off discount coupon with every item sold and also email to all my previous buyers from ebay. It’s a pretty simple plan – I just don’t get it why it doesn’t work over at BigC

    1. I feel your pain. Both Bonanza and ecommerce make it easy to send your items over. BigC which is suppose to partner with ebay doesn’t. There is an app which works ok but its like $100 a month. I used it to move things over and took time to remove items I don’t want to sell on bigc. I have bitched many times about the lack of an easy integration tool.

    2. OK I know of a way you might be able to do import all of your products from eBay to BigC. It is a 2 step solution.
      Step 1) Signup up for Shopify.com and use their FREE eBay import app to pull in all of your products into Shopify.
      Step 2) Go to Cart 2 Cart website at http://www.shopping-cart-migration.com and use their automated service to transfer all of your products from Shopify to the BigCommerce platform. It usually costs about $500 for smaller size migrations but they will quote you for your 500K SKUs.
      You would have to go through the 1st step (for free) because http://www.shopping-cart-migration.com does not convert directly from eBay yet.

      Now with a huge inventory like yours, I strongly recommend checking out SolidCommerce.com. They can bring all your inventory in from eBay and store it into their database (your account with them) and use it as a central hub to connect to every single channel of sales you have presence in such as eBay, Bonanza, BigCommerce, Shopify, Amazon, Etsy, Sears, wallmart, Rakuten and many many more. Their platform will be the place to manage all your inventory and from it, you can send all or a subset of your inventory to each individual channel with complete synchronization across all channels. For example you have quantity 100 of a certain item. You push the item to all of your channels from SolidCommerce platform and let’s say you sell 5 pieces on eBay, the platform immediately adjusts the quantity on all channels to reflect your new stock level of 95 units. If you change your price inside SolidCommerce, it updates it across all of your channels unless you tell it otherwise. You get the picture right? They also do automatic product repricing based on your set of requirements and a ton more and yes of course you can manage and fullfill all of your orders inside of SolidCommerce too 🙂
      The last time I spoke with them it cost about $200 a month flat rate for their service with an initial on-boarding cost of about $500 / channel you connect to. It is worthwhile for you to look at them and some of their competitors too as it (when implemented) will really make your life sooooo much simpler!
