eBay will merge Markdown Manager into Promotions Manager this fall. The tools help sellers run promotions to attract shoppers’ attention. eBay said it was making the change in order to add improved inventory selection, better reporting, and integrated merchandising. Markdown manager is being merged with Sale events “so that you can discount and merchandise in one easy step.”
An excerpt of the announcement follows:
Markdown manager in Promotions manager
Markdown manager is a tool used by sellers to put items on sale by temporarily discounting them. While it’s always been a stand alone product, we’re now merging this discounting capability into Promotions manager. Just look for Sale event + markdown in the Create a promotion drop down on the Promotions manager dashboard.
Why is this changing?
Markdown manager has been a great tool for many sellers for a long time. Making these changes lets us keep the great discounting tool that many sellers love while adding improved inventory selection better reporting and integrated merchandising.
Is there an API?
Just as the user interface is being refreshed, the API will be re-launched as part of the Marketing API. Sellers using the markdown capability through the TradingAPI will be able to continue creating and editing markdowns through the TradingAPI until the new API is ready later this year.
When is it happening?
We will begin rolling out the new tool in the fall.
Where do I find it?
Markdown manager is being merged with Sale events so that you can discount and merchandise in one easy step. Just go to the Promotions manager dashboard and choose Sale event + markdown from the Create a promotion drop down on the top right.
