eBay Sellers Lose Canada Post Light Packet Services

eBay logoAs eBay Canada moves to the Shippo platform for enabling sellers to print shipping labels, it is discontinuing some Canada Post services. If you sell light packages in Canada, be sure to read the details.

The eBay Canada announcement follows:

Canada Post has recently communicated to eBay that it will discontinue offering Light Packet USA and Light Packet International services to eBay label printing platforms. Given the upcoming migration of Canadian eBay shipping label printing to Shippo, we have agreed to implement this change with the launch of the Shippo platform.

Because Light Packet is a popular service for many Canadian eBay sellers, we have worked with Canada Post to create additional discounts on Canada Post Small Packet services:

From the time the Shippo platform launches, through to the end of 2017, Canadian sellers will be able to send items using Canada Post Small Packet-USA and Small Packet-International and save up to 25% off Post Office prices. Depending on the weight and destination, these new discounted rates are very similar to Light Packet rates. Small Packet-USA and International services offer the same delivery times as Light Packet without the burden of the Light Packet size limits which restricted item thickness to 2cm. With Small Packet you can send any item that meets these dimensions: L+W+H <90cm, with no one side greater than 60cm.

  1. Sounds like Canada Postal Service has realize what a losing bargain it was, something the USPS haven’t yet realized with the e-packets from Chiina.
