Etsy Makes Category Changes and Provides Studio Preview

Etsy’s Joe Stanek published posts on the Etsy announcement board on Thursday announcing changes in preparation for launching its new Etsy Studio, here are excerpts from the announcement.

We’re excited to announce that we are including even more craft supply item categories on Etsy.

Since announcing Etsy Studio a few weeks ago, we’ve heard a lot of feedback from buyers and sellers about what people are looking to find when shopping for craft supplies. In February, Etsy clarified its definition of craft supplies in support of the launch of Etsy Studio.

We felt the time was finally right to expand our definition of craft supply items to include items people told us they use to plan events like weddings and parties. We know how important these categories have been for buyers and sellers on Etsy, and are excited for the opportunity to grow them on Etsy Studio and meet the needs of all our members.

Any items currently listed in craft supply categories on Etsy will continue to be considered craft supply items.

We’re also happy to announce a brand new way to preview what your listings will look like on Etsy Studio before it launches. You can now preview your listings using our new Listing Preview! If the listing is a craft supply, you will have the option to preview the listing as it will appear on Etsy and Etsy Studio.

Add / Edit a listing > Preview

From there you can switch between Etsy and Etsy Studio views using the menu at the bottom of the screen before selecting Publish or Back to edit.

Although listing content like descriptions and photos will be the same on Etsy and Etsy Studio, you’ll be able to preview how listings look on both sites before you publish. Though you can still edit your listing from the preview, you won’t be able to click on any of the drop down menus or sections for reviews and policies from the Etsy Studio view.
