UPS Announces 5 Percent Rate Hike for 2017

UPS will raise rates effective December 26, 2016 by nearly 5% for services commonly used by online sellers. Each year, UPS and FedEx raise rates – in fact one recent study claimed the two companies have raised rates in lockstep for the past 10 years – so expect a similar announcement from FedEx regarding 2017 rates.

UPS announced late last week that UPS Ground service Daily rate for US shippers will increase by an average net 4.9%, and daily rates for UPS US Air and International services will also increase an average net 4.9 %.

UPS Air Freight rates within and between the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, will increase an average net 4.9 percent, also effective December 26, 2016.

Further, UPS Freight announced an average net 4.9 percent general rate increase effective September 19, 2016.
