Amazon Finds More Innovative Products to Offer to Shoppers

Amazon clearly sees an opportunity in cultivating and offering for sale new and innovative products. Last year, it launched Amazon Launchpad to help inventors and entrepreneurs by going way beyond simply showcasing their products.

The value to Amazon – “we want to help customers discover these unique products and learn the inspiration behind them.”

This week, Amazon expanded the initiative with a store for products exclusively launched through Kickstarter campaigns. “Customers can discover more than 300 Kickstarter products available for purchase on Amazon.com in one convenient location, including everything from smart herb gardens to virtual reality headsets and more,” it announced.

The Kickstarter crowd-funding platform offers inventors and entrepreneurs a place to raise capital to launch new products and services.

“At Amazon, we work hard to offer the widest possible selection of products so that customers can find anything and everything they might want to buy online. Working with Kickstarter is a great way for us to hear directly from customers what products they care about, since they truly hold the power to bring these products to life,” said Jim Adkins, Vice President, Amazon. “We created the Amazon Launchpad program a year ago to serve creators, inventors, and startups. Our goal is to enable them to reach Amazon’s hundreds of millions of customers and to overcome one of the biggest challenges any startup faces – bringing their product to market successfully.”

Amazon said that since launching a year ago, Amazon Launchpad has worked with over 100 leading venture capital firms, startup accelerators, and crowd-funding platforms to help more than 1,000 startups launch products in the U.S., U.K., China, Germany, and France.

Amazon also rewards manufacturers and merchants willing to sell their brands exclusively on Amazon through its Amazon Exclusives program.
