Amazon Expands Fulfillment Network with Two More FCs

Amazon will open two new fulfillment centers in New Jersey. One new FC will be located in Florence, and the other in Carteret where Amazon already operates a fulfillment center.

The company said the decision to build the new centers in the state was directly tied with increasing customer demand – “We place our fulfillment centers close to customers to provide the fastest possible delivery times,” according to the head of Amazon’s North America fulfillment operations Akash Chauhan, who was quoted in the announcement.

“We currently have more than 5,500 full-time jobs in the state and we are excited about the opportunity to add 2,000 new full-time positions.”

The new Fulfillment Center in Carteret will be more than 800,000 square-feet and will employ over 1,500 full-time workers. The new fulfillment center in Florence will be more than 600,000 square-feet and will employ more than 500 full-time associates.

Amazon has been on a FC binge in the US, announcing new centers this year in California (its 7th in the state); Kansas (its second in the state); and in Texas (its 6th in the state).
