BigCommerce Expands Facebook Shopping Feature

BigCommerce has expanded the availability of the Shop section on Facebook Pages, which lets merchants create a custom Shop on their business Facebook Page.

Sellers who use BigCommerce can begin merchandising individual products or custom collections to Facebook users; the company cited Facebook data that shows nearly 50% of people visit the network actively looking for products.

BigCommerce merchants can upload and manage their product catalog in Facebook’s Business Manager control panel – and they can then create collections to boost “discoverability” based on users’ interests.

Shoppers can also subscribe to merchants’ updates when new items are added and can purchase them through the business’ online store.

“The Shop section on Facebook enables fast-growing brands to engage millions of shoppers across new channels and devices,” said Tim Schulz, chief product officer at BigCommerce. “Our partnership with Facebook will unlock even more value for thousands of successful BigCommerce stores who want to engage shoppers in a meaningful, relevant way and ultimately sell even more.”

BigCommerce customers can start showcasing and selling their products through the Shop section on Pages by activating the channel in the control panel; all merchants selling to U.S. shoppers will have the option to sell on Facebook Pages this week.
