eBay Markdown Manager Breaks as Sellers Encounter Tech Issues

eBay Markdown Manager appears to broken again as sellers encountered various technical issues on New Year’s Eve. Reports came in via Ecommerce EKG as well as industry discussion boards.

One seller wrote on Twitter on Thursday, “Markdown Manager broken: “Page not responding”, “Technical problem try again later” – can not set up sale – others have same prob.”

To which eBay responded with the tweet, “Strange! We haven’t received any reports. Is this happening across browsers? Also, have you tried clearing cache & cookies?” This despite the fact that users reported the issue on the eBay boards, as the seller noted in a response:

“I called support yesterday and they said they would log the issue. Check eBay forums – folks are reporting it there.”

Markdown Manager has always been buggy, and in October, it suffered a major issue that caused some sellers to lose money by incorrectly extending the sale dates for 4 days until eBay became aware of the issue. In an unusual move, eBay allowed sellers to cancel transactions of impacted listings without penalty in that instance.

Users reported additional problems over the past few days on the eBay Technical Issues board.
