Amazon is offering a discount on Prime membership in the UK. The sale meant to attract new members of the free-shipping program kicked off on Sunday and runs through Wednesday, November 18th, offering a 20-pound savings for UK shoppers.
Amazon had run a similar promotion in the US in September, running a 1-day sale that let shoppers to join the membership program for $67 instead of the normal annual price of $99, a savings of 32%.
The current promotion lets UK shoppers join Amazon Prime for 59 pounds – Prime delivery benefits include millions of products available for Prime One-Day delivery, the newly-launched free Prime Same-Day delivery service, and Prime Now one-hour delivery recently expanded to additional cities, the company explained.
And, it noted, “Customers who sign up now, along with the millions of existing Prime members, will be able to take advantage of Prime Early Access to Black Friday Week deals,” linking to Amazon.co.uk/primespecial to learn more.
Amazon said Black Friday (November 27th) could become its biggest shopping day.
Last year’s Black Friday fell on November 28th when Amazon.co.uk saw over 5.5 million items ordered with sales peaking at 8:29am.
And it said last year it saw record global growth for Amazon Prime at Christmas when more than 10 million new members worldwide tried Prime for the first time, and it noted that more new members tried Prime on July 15, 2015 – Prime Day – than any single day in Amazon history.
