Endicia will power a new shipping feature from ecommerce platform Shopify that will help merchants print USPS shipping labels at discounted rates. With the new Shopify Shipping functionality, merchants who host their stores on the platform will have the ability to drop prepaid shipments off at USPS offices without having to wait in line, or they can schedule a free home pickup.
Shopify Director Louis Kearns said the launch of Shopify Shipping is part of its move to help online sellers optimize their fulfillment strategy. And sellers should expect more to come – Shopify will expand shipping benefits to merchants in other geographies with additional shipping providers over time.
Shopify merchants have also been able to use other USPS shipping partners to power their shipping functionality and will be able to continue to do so – a page on its websiteshows a range of well known shipping apps that work with its platform.
Shopify has been building out integrations with many companies and services of late, and partnerships with social media services have gotten the attention of merchants looking to take advantage of “Buy buttons” on Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter.
Shopify currently powers over 175,000 businesses in approximately 150 countries, including Tesla Motors, Budweiser, Wikipedia, LA Lakers, the New York Stock Exchange, and GoldieBlox.
