eBay sellers are asking, who is Richard Brezovec after his name began showing up on their PayPal statements on Wednesday. “My shipping labels are showing payment to this person’s name! What the heck,” a seller wroteon the eBay forums.
Other sellers reported the issue on Ecommerce EKG. “I see “Richard Brezovec” on my PayPal statement when I purchase a shipping label through eBay. I also see “Treasury Account Administrator” on my PayPal statement when I pay my eBay seller fees,” wrote one seller.
If the name sounds familiar, it’s because this same issue happened before – EcommerceBytes wrote about it in 2011. PayPal said at the time it was not a hack – the problem began on January 26 and was deemed resolved on January 29, 2011.
So who is Richard Brezovec? In 2011, we noted that LinkedIn listed a Richard Brezovec who was a Treasury Consultant at eBay. His profile now states he’s a Data Loss Prevention Manager at eBay Inc.
There were several threads on the eBay boards about the issue. One seller who said, “I hope my Pay Pal account will not be messed with,” said they were told by PayPal it was “just a glitch and not a threat at all and will be fixed soon.”
PayPal did not provide comment before press time.
