Etsy Asks Sellers to Use Social Media to Draw Shoppers

Etsy asked sellers to use social media to attract holiday shoppers to their Etsy shops, advising them to let customers know their Etsy items would make great gifts. It also created a special hashtag for sharing.

“As we lead up to the holidays, sharing your shop story and unique items on social media can help you form connections with shoppers on the hunt for the perfect present – and entice them to visit your shop,” Etsy’s Social Media Coordinator David Morgan wrote on the Etsy blog for sellers.

Sellers can use the #etsygifts hashtag, and it designed promotional images that sellers can share on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, encouraging shoppers to “Unwrap your unique gift.” The resulting grassroots marketing by sellers ties in with the company’s holiday marketing campaign.

Morgan provided details on how to use the special Etsy graphic along with product photos on the major social networking sites to showcase their items. Sellers can also use a PDF template Etsy created that they can use to make gift tags to include with customers’ orders.
