Etsy Launches New Search Test, Runs New-Seller Q-and-A

Etsy launched another test of its search function on Tuesday, August 12th. In this latest test, which Etsy calls “experiments,” it will be testing new categories in Browse. It will also be making it easier to move from browse to search, it explained in its announcement – the second one posted on this page.

Just as with its previous experiment, the test uses sellers’ current listing data (categories, tags, etc) to place their listings in a new category, it explained.

The Etsy marketplace has been running many tests over the past several months – so much so, that it has caused some sellers to speak out that the number and frequency of testing has been disruptive to their operations.

Etsy Hosts New-Seller Q&A
Etsy is also hosting a “new seller” live question-and-answer session at 3 pm EST on the Online Labs today (August 13, 2014). Three Etsy staff members will offer advice to new sellers and will answer frequently asked questions.

The Q&A is part of a group (or “team”) called Etsy Success. The session will also feature several posts from some of the team members who have contributed to the group on this thread.

If you miss it, the session will be archived.
