eBay UK suffered an outage on Tuesday, and some U.S. users also had problems accessing eBay.com. eBay UK posted on its announcement board at 10:16AM BST, “Due to a technical issue, some eBay customers may notice a problem with key areas of the eBay site. We’re working to solve this problem and apologise for any inconvenience. Please try to complete your transaction at a later time.”
At 1:26PM BST, it updated the post, writing, “We are happy to confirm this issue has been resolved. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”
There were also reports of users in the U.S. being unable to access eBay.com yesterday. Monitoring siteIsItDownRightNow.com showed issues, and on Tuesday afternoon, a reader wrote, “I have had NO Ebay at all since about 7AM. I’m in Northern Colorado???”
A second reader wrote: “Not sure about the UK, but on my off-EBay sellers board, a large number of us have been unable to get into US Ebay all morning. I’ve only been trying since 10;30, but someone posted she hasn’t been able to get in since 6am, same time zone (MT), someone else posted that it’s been down on the east coast all morning. Can’t even get into the site at all! Hard to keep my 1 day handling when I can’t print shipping labels since I can’t even get into the site. Just thought you might want to check into this since you are reporting a UK outage, when there’s a huge outage here in the US.”
Another reader reported on the Ecommerce EKG board, “.com is also down, same Paypal, most Paypal transactions show “on hold” because there is some kind of issue happening, customers mad and of course taking it on us, just on time for the new DSRs.”
DownDetector showed problems, but some commentors said the problem was due to ISP CenturyLink.
eBay did not report any problems on the eBay.com Systems Board, but it rarely uses the board to update users of technical issues, using the board mostly to post its weekly maintenance schedule.
