In a major move, online auction site Proxibidwill expand its reach in Europe by opening an office this month in the UK. Proxibid is a live-auction site and also offers the ability for non-auctioneers to list items in fixed-price format.
The company said the new London office would help it better serve its growing base of European buyers and sellers.
Proxibid also entered into a strategic alliance with Moffat Group, publisher of Resale Weekly, one of the largest advertising publications in the UK and Europe, to gain traction in the UK and European construction equipment and farm machinery markets. Under the new partnership, Moffat Group will leverage Proxibid’s transactional capabilities and online risk management expertise to provide the most secure online environment for such items globally, the company said.
Proxibid sells across 15 categories representing items from fine art, antiques and collectibles to heavy construction equipment and real estate. More than 12,000 sales events take place in the Proxibid Marketplace annually, and more than 10,000 new buyers join the marketplace each month.
CEO Ryan Downs said international expansion was the next logical step for the company. Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, with offices in New York (and soon London), Proxibid provides online selling solutions to more than 3,000 auction companies, asset owners and consignors worldwide.
