eBay UK Runs Free Listing Promotion for Regifters

eBay UK is running a free listing promotion to encourage sellers to keep listing beyond Christmas and into January. As we pointed out yesterday in describing a promotion running on eBay Australia, online shopping doesn’t stop on December 24th, and “unwanted Christmas presents” was the sixth highest search term on eBay on Christmas Day last year.

In promoting the listing sale to sellers, eBay UK wrote, “If you don’t love your gift, someone will,” playing up the concept of regifting – getting rid of unwanted gifts received over the holidays. No doubt eBay hopes sellers will use the cash from the sale of unwanted presents to purchase items they do want – on eBay.

While the promotion in Australia ran from December 20 – 23, 2013, the UK promotion runs from Christmas Day through January 5, 2014.

The promotion is limited to eBay.co.uk registered private sellers who are not below-standard sellers or otherwise restricted from selling. Participation is linked to the seller’s account and is not transferable. Sellers must be registered as a resident in the UK.

Only items listed on eBay.co.uk using the auction-style format in an eligible category are included. Listings using the auction-style with Buy it now format will be charged only the listing upgrade fee.

Sellers who registered after March 15, 2011 or haven’t listed any items for a while may have a listing allowance of 10 items per month or of 650 pounds per month, whichever is reached first. Business sellers and PowerSellers are excluded from participating in the promotion.

All other fees apply, see eBay website for details and restrictions.
