eBay Extends Real-Life Same-Day Delivery Service to Dallas

Beginning today, shoppers in Dallas will be able to order items from some local stores and get the items within an hour. The eBay Now same-day delivery service that’s currently available in San Francisco, Bay Area Peninsula, New York (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens) and Chicago has expanded to Dallas as of December 10th, and will soon launch in London.

During the holiday shopping season, delivery is free on all eBay Now orders now through December 24th. After that, all first-time eBay Now customers in Dallas will have the delivery fee waived on their initial order with each subsequent fee the costing the regular $5 delivery fee.

eBay will offer extended shopping hours from Dec. 16 – 23 and will make deliveries on Christmas Eve until 6 pm.

An eBay spokesperson told EcommerceBytes the company does not release exact numbers and statistics, but said local is a top priority for eBay. “We are helping to get busy shoppers the things they need and love, delivered to them anywhere, anytime in about an hour.” The types of products ordered via eBay Now have varied from small iPhone chargers to air conditioners, he said.

eBay Now orders in Dallas will be delivered by third-party courier companies through Shutl, just as they are in Chicago. Orders in San Francisco, San Jose, the Bay Area Peninsula and New York are delivered by eBay Now valets. “Customers will receive the same consistent, high-quality customer service in Dallas as experienced by consumers in our other eBay Now cities,” according to the spokesperson.

What is eBay doing to promote the service in Dallas? “In addition to reaching to local Dallas media, eBay will be offering its holiday promotion, free delivery and extended hours, to help give last minute shoppers in Dallas a convenient and quick way to purchase their gifts during the busy holiday season.”
