Bonanza caused a stir when it instituted a $2 fee for sellers who chose not to use its platform to print shipping labels, and a year later, it’s reversing the policy beginning next month.
In the October 2024 announcement, Bonanza said, “We understand that every dollar counts. To help lower your expenses and streamline your operations, we are removing the $2 shipping assessment fee starting in November. This last assessment you will receive is November 1st so this means more savings for you and a simpler, more cost-effective process.”
The move comes as a number of marketplaces lower selling fees (or even eliminate them altogether and shift fees to buyers).
Bonanza also promised sellers to triple its marketing budget: “To drive more buyers to your products, we’re tripling our marketing investment. You’ll benefit from increased traffic and visibility, helping you reach new customers across the web. This is part of our commitment to make Bonanza your go-to platform for reaching eager holiday shoppers.”
The online marketplace announced the news on the October 4 Bonanza blog post, where CEO Quincy Faison thanked sellers for being part of the Bonanza community.
That ship is sinking.
