An eBay moderator said the company was aware of a problem with USPS shipping labels purchased through eBay. A seller reported the following issue on the discussion board threads on Thursday afternoon: “The QR code isn’t working at the USPS. It says there is no label. It was bought a few hours before I went there. I cancelled it and tried again. No luck. Any ideas.”
Sellers can print shipping labels on eBay, or they can create a QR code to bring to carriers who then print the label; the current problem seems to have begun sometime on Thursday..
An eBay moderator responded, “Thank you for sharing this issue with the QR code. Our Product team is aware of the issue and are currently working on a resolution that they will have rolled out ASAP.”
Sellers were also discussing the problem on August 13, 2026 on a Reddit thread where some expressed frustration at the lack of communication:
One seller wrote on the Reddit thread: “Following up for anyone lurking for answers lol just talked to eBay customer service and it’s a system wide issue. The last 5+ phone calls the rep had were about the same thing that eBay label QR Codes aren’t printing or scanning at USPS. They said don’t continue to buy and rebuy labels, just wait patiently until they can try to get this resolved.”
Another seller replied: “Thanks for the info. Would be helpful if eBay would communicate to us. I don’t feel like just repeatedly trying to go to the post office, fingers crossed that they got their shit together.”
While some sellers said they were cancelling the label and reprinting, shipping guru “wastingtime101” warned:
“If the first label shows it was scanned, you won’t get credited for it as USPS considers a scanned QR code used.
“Sometimes if there is a lag with the API, it can take an hour or so between generating the label and being able to scan it.
“Today specifically there have been problems with generating certain classes of labels due to a tech error, and your scan issue was probably tied to that, and it’s the type of situation where it often works if you wait and scan the code the next day.”
