Amazon to Hike Fulfillment Fees during 2024 Holiday Peak

Amazon will raise FBA fulfillment fees during the 2024 peak holiday shopping season starting in mid-October. In Thursday’s announcement, the company told sellers its seasonal fee was similar to those charged by other major carriers and would cover increased fulfillment and transportation operating costs during the busy holiday shopping season.

Amazon FBA’s average holiday peak fulfillment fee will remain the same as last year, except for products priced under $10 in the US, for which the peak fee is new in 2024. And similar to last year, the peak FBA fee will apply from October 15 through January 14th.

The holiday peak fulfillment fee will apply to all products, and Amazon explained the fee amount would be the same for all items within a specific size-band for each store. The fees will apply to US Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), Canada FBA, North America Remote Fulfillment, US Multi-Channel Fulfillment, and Buy with Prime.

Note that FBA fulfillment fees are calculated and charged when shipments leave fulfillment centers. If a product is ordered before October 15, 2024, but is shipped on or after that date, the fulfillment fees indicated to start on October 15, 2024, will apply.

“Amazon’s average FBA fulfillment fees continue to be 70% less expensive than comparable two-day shipping methods offered by other major third-party logistics providers,” the company told sellers in the Amazon Seller Central announcement.

Amazon has yet to disclose its extended holiday return policy, which applies to FBA and non-FBA orders. Last year, the policy required that items purchased between November 1 through December 31, 2023, were returnable through January 31, 2024.
