Etsy invited sellers to place their items on sale to participate in its Father’s Day sale, but some said a glitch caused Etsy to erroneously discount low-priced items. One seller explained, “Etsy’s running a site-wide Father’s Day sale with code “fathersday2024″ and inviting Etsy sellers to participate, but there’s an issue. If you set a discount with a minimum amount they save the value wrong. I tried to set a minimum of $50 and it set the minimum to $0.50.”
Another seller explained how the glitch impacted them: “Yep, thrilled about the few sales I made overnight at 25% off. Wanted the order minimum to be $200, but Etsy made the minimum $2–goodbye profit!”
Sellers reported the issue on May 13, but a moderator didn’t respond until a week later, on May 19th, thanking sellers for bringing the issue to Etsy’s attention and writing, “We’re investigating the issue, and we’ll share an update as soon as we have more information. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this!”
At least one seller said shoppers had used Father’s Day coupons in their shop even though they didn’t participate in the promotion.
Etsy invited sellers to participate in the promotion in an announcement board post on February 20th, advising them to opt in by April 1 for a chance to be featured in Etsy’s Father’s Day marketing. Sellers may wish to check their shops to see if their items are displaying promotions correctly.
