eBay is running a promotion to try and get fresh auctions onto its site. For 11 days, invited sellers can list auctions and pay no insertion fee. But in an unusual move, it is excluding relistings, clearly a bid to get fresh inventory during the holiday shopping season.
The invitation to sellers linked to a page where eBay wrote, “Selling is so easy you can get a gift for you and give one too. Make extra cash for the holiday season by selling items you never sold before. Millions of buyers want what you have, so it’s easy to cash in.”
Sellers who are invited to participate can list up to 1,000 listings a day for free – and eBay will also waive the extra fee for selecting 10-day duration; it’s also waiving the fee for adding the optional bold feature to the listings.
As usual, all existing selling limits apply. Only 5-, 7-, and 10-day listing durations are included in the promotion, which kicked off on November 8th and runs through November 18th.
Sellers who have been invited to participate will automatically receive the promotion rate when they create qualifying listings.
All other fees apply, see eBay website for details and restrictions.
