eBay is running a 6-week promotion that kicks off today, September 1, 2015. In one version, sellers can list up to 80 listings in the auction-style format or fixed price format and pay no insertion fees. In another version, sellers are entitled to list up to 500 free listings.
Sellers discussed the promotion on the eBay discussion board. “For me,” one seller wrote, “it will be useful, but I require a 2000 free listing special to have about 50 sales. It’s just what selling is on the new eBay.”
Another seller responding to a colleague who wondered if eBay was experimenting by giving sellers 100 free listings again after cutting it down to 20/month wrote: “You don’t really have your 100 back. It is 80 free listings during a 6-WEEK PERIOD. When you break it down, that technically adds only 40 free listings per month to the 20 free monthly ones. Kind of sneaky how they did that. There will be a lot of surprised people when those 80 are gone.”
As usual, all existing selling limits as well as category and item limits apply and may prevent sellers from creating the maximum number of listings. “The Promotion is in addition to the free listings per month as part of the everyday rate plan,” eBay explained.
Be sure to read the fine print, such as this caveat: “Auction-style listings created in 1-day and 3-day duration will not be charged an insertion fee, but will continue to be subject to the listing upgrade fee.”
The promotion runs through October 15th. All other fees apply, see your invitation for details and restrictions.
