Amazon is extending its monthly subscription fee waiver for Handmade Artisans yet again – this time, indefinitely. In its email announcement to sellers, Amazon wrote:
“Monthly subscription fee waived for Handmade Artisans indefinitely: “Thank you for being a part of Amazon Handmade and offering your unique, handcrafted items to millions of Amazon Customers. We are pleased to announce that we will continue to waive the standard $39.99 monthly Professional Selling Plan subscription fee for Handmade Artisans. There is no expiration date to this fee waiver. Seller Central content will be updated to reflect this change in the next few weeks. Our goal is to make it easy for you to pursue your passion and grow your business on Handmade. We hope that today’s announcement will help you achieve these goals.”
Note that Handmade at Amazon artisans must have a Professional Seller account, which incurs the monthly fee.
Amazon told sellers in Wednesday’s email that in addition to the fee waiver, it had refreshed its Handmade banner on the Seller Central homepage to help sellers grow their handmade business. “Using the banner, you can quickly navigate to links to refresh your Handmade Artisan Profile, add more products to expand your presence, and learn more about programs available to help your business thrive.”
Amazon launched the Handmade store in October 2015 and has been seen as a threat to Etsy.
The fee waiver also comes as craft-supplies retailer A.C. Moore enters the space with the help of Zibbet, as we wrote about last month.
