The US ended the $800 de minimis on packages arriving to the US last year, meaning duties are due on those items. In Europe, the EU is eliminating de minimis on packages valued at €150 or less beginning July 1, 2026, and at the same time, is introducing a new flat customs duty of €3 for B2C shipments.
On Thursday, Etsy advised US sellers on how the latter change would impact their shipments to Europe (note the UK is not part of the EU). Etsy also advised sellers about a new €2 import fee on certain low-value goods for orders shipping to France from non-EU countries.
Note that eBay has a help page that addresses the new €3 customs duty that takes effect next week.
The new €3 temporary customs duty will apply until July 1, 2028, after which normal customs duties will apply, depending on the type of good, according to the European Commission website.
Also this week, the US government announced it was testing a new electronic entry process for international mail shipments for importers who are obligated to provide more detailed information on international mail shipments.
