Amazon Uses Machine Learning to Tell Sellers if FBA Is a Good Fit

Amazon uses Machine Learning technology to advise sellers which of the products they sell would be a good fit for its fulfillment service through a feature called Amazon FBA Enrollment Opportunities. On Tuesday, it announced it had integrated FBA Enrollment Opportunities directly into Manage All Inventory so that sellers could “identify and act on valuable growth opportunities more efficiently.”

According to Tuesday’s announcement: “This integration is available in the US, UK, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan. It displays up to 50 recommendations, which are updated daily. The recommendations include data such as eligibility for FBA programs and promotions, sales history, Featured Offer win percentage, and sales conversion rate.”

The tool, which “uses a machine-learning system to identify products in your catalog that will benefit from an FBA program,” uses Amazon data not necessarily available to sellers.

The FBA opportunities tool can be a springboard for sellers to do further analysis, since Amazon does not have individualized data important to making such decisions, such as sellers’ margins and their costs of sell-fulfillment, which are different for each product and each seller.

Amazon has a help page with more information about the FBA Enrollment Opportunities feature. Bringing the recommendations to Manage All Inventory gives them greater visibility.
