Amazon to Hold Its 1st Shopping Event for Used Goods

Amazon is holding a shopping event in Germany (and possibly elsewhere) in early September called “Second Chance Deal Days” to promote used goods. The event will precede its 4th annual “Prime Big Deal Days” event, expected to take place October 14 – 15, 2025.

Amazon announced the inaugural Second Chance shopping event this week in Germany, stating that the sale is aimed at customers who want to shop more sustainably without compromising on quality or value. It said over two-thirds of Europeans now buy secondhand due to rising living costs, greater environmental awareness, and convenience.

“At this new shopping event, customers can look forward to attractive discounts of up to 50% on returned and refurbished items,” Amazon said. “This extends the lifespan of products while helping to give them a second chance.”

In Germany, Amazon offers 40 million secondhand items across almost all product categories, and German customers ordered over 20 million returns and refurbished items in 2024, “saving more than €160 million in the process.”

Amazon described the two programs through which it sells used, returned, and refurbished items, both of which are backed by Amazon’s customer service and return policy:

Amazon Returns offers used and opened products at discounted prices. These items undergo a thorough inspection before resale and are labeled with descriptions such as “As New,” “Very Good,” “Good,” or “Acceptable” to help customers make a more informed purchasing decision. Prices reflect the condition of each item.

Amazon Renewed offers like-new, refurbished products sold by qualified Amazon selling partners. Each item undergoes professional inspection, testing, and cleaning, and must meet Amazon Renewed’s requirements before being offered at competitive prices.

The announcement is on the Amazon Germany website, the translation from German was made through Google Translate. The sale will take place on September 3 – 9.
