Etsy Offers $5 Coupons to Reactivate Lapsed Buyers

Etsy has been sending lapsed buyers coupons that they can apply toward their next purchase. In July (2025), a seller reported on a Reddit thread that someone had received a “HEYAGAIN” coupon code to get $5 off a purchase in their store, which was funded by Etsy; and as recently as last week, Etsy sent a similar coupon code to past buyers, “HEYAGAIN5.”

Last week’s Etsy-funded coupon arrived in an email with the subject line, “$5 off (Because we miss you!)” – and the body of the email read as follows:

“Just because: $5 off
“Surprise! Here’s one little way to brighten your day – $5 off your next new favorite thing. Explore our bestsellers for a find that fits the bill and click “Redeem now” to apply your Etsy coupon* HEYAGAIN5 toward your next purchase.
“Hope this makes you smile!”

The current coupon expires on May 2, 2026.

Etsy reactivates more lapsed buyers than it acquires brand new ones: during the 4th quarter of 2025, Etsy reactivated 10.4 million buyers, and it acquired 6.8 million new buyers. (Etsy reports the number of reactivated shoppers during its quarterly financial filings with the SEC.)

The numbers suggest it’s not easy to retain buyers: the number of active buyers declined 3.4% in the 4th quarter of 2025 compared to the 4th quarter of 2024.
