Amazon Expands Service that Grades and Resells Sellers' Returns

Amazon launched the Grade and Resell service for FBA sellers in 2021, and this month it expanded the program to additional categories “with smarter features.” Amazon describes the program as follows:

“The FBA Grade and Resell program allows you to recover value from your unfulfillable customer returns by allowing you to relist and sell your products as Used, instead of paying to remove the inventory.

“After enrollment, we automatically evaluate the condition of your unfulfillable customer returns and create a used listing on your behalf, with you as the seller on record. You set the price and manage the listing as you do for your current new and used items.”

Last week, Amazon announced the service supports the following additional categories:

Watches
Jewelry
Luggage
Shoes
Apparel

Amazon also said it changed how the service works, changing product inclusion from opt-out to an opt-in: “Instead of enrolling their entire catalog and excluding specific items, sellers can now handpick up to 2,000 ASINs they specifically want to include in the program.”

The marketplace hinted more changes may be on the way, writing, “Stay tuned for new updates and features to Grade and Resell inventory allowing sellers unlock new revenue opportunities.”
