eBay Shipping Changes Take Effect on November 11

eBay sellers will see a few shipping changes take effect on November 11, 2024. FedEx and UPS have both updated their peak season surcharge structure for items shipped through eBay Labels. And eBay continues to roll out changes to eBay International Shipping (EIS), with the most recent wave of sellers being impacted on November 11th.

eBay announced last month that UPS and FedEx surcharges would change during the peak season:

  • FedEx is waiving the Demand Surcharge for eBay Labels through January 19, 2025, for FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery residential shipments, FedEx Ground Economy, FedEx 2Day, FedEx Standard Overnight and FedEx Priority Overnight. And it is discounting Demand Additional Handling surcharges for all of those services except FedEx Ground Economy.
  • UPS is applying a Demand Surcharge for eBay labels on all UPS Ground, Ground Saver, and Air packages. And UPS will apply a Demand Surcharge to packages that require Additional Handling and large Packages for all U.S. domestic, U.S. import, and U.S. export shipments on eBay Labels.

eBay is also continuing to roll out changes to eBay International Shipping (EIS) in waves. eBay EIS will soon manage sellers’ excluded shipping locations for a new wave of sellers, with the latest notification sent last month:

“We’re writing to let you know that starting November 11, your eBay International Shipping settings will be updated to automatically manage excluded shipping locations for your listings. This change will help you reach even more buyers on a global scale, as your items will be available to locations based on their export eligibility. Our International Shipping Policy has also been updated to reflect this change.

“If you’d like to opt out of this change, please let us know before November 7 by clicking the link below. You can also disable this feature after it’s been implemented by switching the toggle button at the top of the Exclusions page under Shipping preferences.”

eBay has been sending the same letter (with different dates) since at least May, which we reported on at the time with a take-effect date of June 6th.

Changes to shipping can have serious consequences for sellers on any ecommerce platform, so consider this a reminder to monitor your settings and fees during the holiday shopping season.

  1. I exclude certain countries like China because I don’t even want them seeing my items and trying to copy them.

    Also other countries because I am racist and I have that right to refuse service to anyone.
    I was born this way.
