eBay Opens Submissions for Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year

eBay Canada is calling for sellers to apply for its 15th annual Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. In addition to naming an Entrepreneur of the Year, eBay Canada will award a Micro-Multinational of the Year and an Integrated Entrepreneur of the Year award. eBay will accept submissions until August 25, 2019, and will announce the winners in the fall.

We went back to the archives to find out who won the awards the first year. In this 2005 EcommerceBytes Newsflash article, we noted there were over 200 entrants from across Canada who were judged on their description of their eBay-based business, including the contribution eBay has made to their success, how they demonstrate eBay’s community values and the positive impact these values have had on their eBay business.

Mr. Francis Ochoco (eBay user ID urbanhuman) of Vancouver, British Columbia won the top spot that year.

The prizes awarded in 2005: First prize: $10,000 worth of eBay Anything Points; second prize: $5,000 in points; and third prize: $2,000 in points.

In related news, eBay announced the winners of the Shine Awards in the US last week. Taking the top spot was Jodi Rosenbaum of More Than Words, who was named Small Business of the Year, as we reported in this Newsflash article on Monday.
