USPS Issues Reminder of Early Closing on Christmas Eve

The USPS issued a reminder that most Post Office retail counters will close at noon on Christmas Eve, with some exceptions. Earlier this month, it had said “some Post Offices” might have limited hours on Christmas Eve.

It had also advised mailers to be sure to place mail into blue collection boxes by noon on Christmas Eve regardless of the final collection times posted on the box, along with a reminder that blue collection boxes are not serviced on Sundays.

Today’s announcement also reminded customers that mail delivery would continue as usual on December 24th.

Announcement follows:

December 21, 2019
Postal Service Operations on Christmas Eve

Postal Service operations will remain open for business and mail delivery will continue as usual on Monday, Dec. 24 as the Postal Service continues to deliver nearly 16 billion mail and package deliveries this holiday season.

Post Office retail counters will be open until noon nationally on December 24. However, some retail offices may be open later due to customer needs. Local hours are posted at all Post Offices.

Postal Service operating status for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day is available on this page of the USPS website.
